Due to a foot injury, Colombian President is to miss the Amazon Summit in Brazil

Today, the Colombian President, Alvaro Uribe, had sent his regrets to Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. He was saying that he would be unable to attend the so-called 'Amazon Summit' in Manaus, Brazil, due to a foot injury that he had experienced.

Tensions between Uribe and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez was hoped to have been eased via the Brazilian forum.

This is primarily because, Chavez had threatened war with Colombia over Uribe allowing the U.S. to use seven Colombian bases in order to combat against drug trafficking and so on.
