Among the agreements made in the Geneva Convention is the prohibition of the wrong use of the Red Cross emblem. By disguising one's self as a Red Cross volunteer, future humanitarian workers' lives may be put at risk.
This is why Colombian President Uribe was put gained unfavorable response after one of his men used the Red Cross emblem to rescue FARC hostages. Uribe claimed full responsibility for the mistake.
